The TV is now off limits, to the children. I'm sure on Saturday morning we'll let Elijah watch a few videos. But, there for awhile, he was watching at least one or more A DAY!
So, at this point, we're just going cold turkey. Last night he helped me make dinner (counted eggs, cracked one, which then dumped all over the floor, because he's pretty good at cracking them without help.)He colored, and we tried to work on the letters T and L, but really he ended up just coloring. We read books. He took a bath. Elizabeth did a lot of crying since I was mostly giving Elijah attention and Daddy wasn't sure what to do with her.
He's not even three, but I've decided we've got to nip the whining in the bud. He has learned to whine about everything, so I'm trying to work on him actually talking to us, instead of whining about EVERYTHING THAT COMES OUT OF HIS MOUTH.
Finally, I'm working on him following directions. He likes to do his own thing, and say, "No." Even when he means yes, half the time he still says NO.
"Do you want a piece of cheese?"
"No"
"Ok, I'll put it up"
"CCCCCCHHHHHHEEEEEEEESSSSSSEEEEEEEEE"
"So you want the cheese, yes?"
"No"
(back and forth back and forth, then he finally gets it or says yes)
"My cheese."
"Yes, that is your cheese, but eat it." Which he does most of the time.
"Do you want to go play in your playroom?"
"No, not right now."
"I'll turn the light on for you."
"Not right now," as he grabs my hand and takes me to the playroom, where the light gets turned on. I guess in this case I need to wait and not turn the light on until he says, "Light, please." or "Light on" or something.
So what's my problem? Is it consistency, discipline, or something more I'm just not seeing? We'll see.

In my quest to steal other ideas from other bloggers I give you:
Five things I think I think (a tip of the hat to Peter King for this idea) (or in this case Mark Edge-HA!)
1. It doesn’t matter how many times you put sunscreen on your shoulders, if you have vampire genes, you will burn. It’s part of the process of eventually turning to ash. That’s an inner tubes at the water park tend to rub sunscreen off.
2. Planning a departure time is nice, but unless you have plane tickets, you just are not leaving by that time.
3. Not all hotels have continental breakfast. In fact the fancier they are (and if they have a restaurant inside them) they’re more likely not too (gggrrrrr.)
4. I miss my kids and can’t wait to see them, but my thought from #1 has me fearful of the bear hugs.
5. Even on vacation, if you’re in the states, you still cannot avoid a trip to Wal-mart.

It's amazing...
how other’s fastidiousness reminds us that we need to do things.
Lizzy had a doctor’s appt last week, on Wednesday (The Hay’s blog update on Carli reminded me.)
Anyway, Elizabeth, at 6 months, is 16 lbs 15 oz. (65 percentile)
28 inches long (98 percentile)
Thank you Resa, I owe you one. Facebook friends, there are new pics of the kids there you can check out.
